I asked a similar question last month and thought I had things worked out, but there's still a wrinkle: When several institutions share an IP address but have their own symbol at the end (instead of "ILL"), the address book sometimes won't let me add the newest one. In this case, I'm trying to send something to McNeese State U (LHA), and I already have entries at the same IP for LLM, LSH, and LUS. If it won't let me add LHA ("an entry already exists with that IP and/or symbol"), how did the 3 existing entries get there? I've had this trouble in the past and have just monkeyed around until finally something clicked and it agreed to add the new symbol, but I'd like to know the proper way to do it. Sometimes I've even replaced an existing entry with the new information because it's the only way I can get the symbol into my Address Book. Can anybody help? Thanks! So I was surprised to hear that Greta had created different entries for LLM, LSH, and LUS which all have the same numerical IP address. But after monkeying around in there myself, I think I've found the workaround that Greta stumbled upon and that could potentially help many others! Let's pretend you're an Odyssey Standalone library and you want to have two address book entries: one for library AAA and another for library BBB. Both are ILLiad libraries; library AAA has the IP address of 123.123.123.123/AAA and library BBB has the IP address of 123.123.123.123/BBB. If you've already created an entry for library AAA, Odyssey Standalone will not allow you to add a second entry for BBB because 123.123.123.123 is already in there. But although you can't **add**, it appears you can edit. Here's the trick: Add instead an entry in your address book for library BBB that has an IP address of 123.123.123.124 . Note the incorrect number 4 on the end. After you click the Add button, then retrieve the entry in your Address Book, change 123.123.123.124 to 123.123.123.123 which is the correct IP and click the Save Changes button. Voila! You've tricked Odyssey and now have two different entries for two different symbols with the same IP. (Note: Be sure to verify you have the correct suffix for each entry.) Thanks, Greta, for leading us down the path to this workaround. :-) -Brian/OSU At 11:41 AM 2/10/2009, you wrote: >Content-Language: en-US >Content-Type: multipart/alternative; > >boundary="_000_2A3AD8E958F0FB4788FCE7F942DD77A92268728F9BExchangebethe_" > >Hello All, > >I am using Odyssey stand-alone. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Phil- We've been using a Fujitsu fi-6230 for about 8 months now and we're pretty happy with it. It has an ADF and the flatbed can scan up to legal size. It's very fast using the ADF at 300 dpi and a little slower (but still quick) using the flatbed. I think the cost was around $1200? It was pretty easy to set up: I did it myself and don't remember any problems and I'm certainly no tech wizard! It does not work well with our older, tightly-bound journal volumes ; but I knew that beforehand-just depends on what kind of scanning you're doing. We have a face-up Minolta PS5000C we can use for those requests. I was also looking at an Epson scanner (can't remember model number) that did up to 11x17. A nearby university has one that they use for their Odyssey scanning and I was always impressed at how beautiful their scans were. I think that one was considerably more $$$, especially if you wanted the ADF, so I went with the Fujitsu.
